The Greatest Thing in the World, is written for voice and orchestra, and is inspired by Henry Drummond's book by the same title. In this short book Drummond identifies nine qualities, such as patience, generosity, and kindness, which make up "the spectrum of love." Composer Peter B. Allen took each of these nine qualities and wrote a meditation for voice and orchestra for each one. There are no words, just soaring vocal melodies accompanied by orchestra. Julia Wade gives a rich, subtle and joyful performance on this world-premiere recording.
